There is a host of apps available for Windows 10 that can keep you up to date on the weather outside. Just as with our Windows Phone weather apps, being able to check in on the forecast can help you plan your day. These apps can also help you prepare for storms or to see what conditions are like at a travel destination.

While the Windows Store may lack Amazing Weather HD or Appy Weather, there are some quality choices available in the Windows Store. We are pulling a few of the top rated weather apps from the Windows Store to spotlight in this roundup. We may have missed your favorite Windows 10 weather app and if that is the case, feel free to toss out your recommendation in the comments below.

MSN Weather

MSN Weather (formerly Bing Weather) may be the obvious choice for a Windows 10 weather app. The app has been around some time and has gone through a few renovations along the way with the app becoming a solid option weather resource.

The main display for MSN Weather offers you the current conditions of your forecast city, a ten-day extended forecast that can be broken down to an hourly track.

The menu bar that runs along the left side of the screen offers options to view weather maps, historical weather data, view your places, check out the weather news and send feedback to Microsoft. The animated weather maps offer layers to display the current radar observation, radar forecast, precipitation values, satellite coverage and cloud coverage.

Historical data covers the average temperature and rainfall that can be viewed by the month for your locations.

Settings for MSN Weather include options for temperature values (Fahrenheit or Celsius) and which location should be used when the app launches. Additionally, MSN Weather has Live Tile support for your Windows 10 Start Menu and a collection of nicely illustrated weather wallpapers.

The Weather Channel

The Weather Channel has been a leader in weather information for years and their Windows 10 app strives to offer you the best radar, local forecasts and weather news available.

The Windows 10 version of The Weather Channel app is very similar to the Windows Phone version with your local conditions greeting you when the app is launched. Where the Windows Phone app relies on vertical scrolling and a bottom navigation bar to access all of the features, the Windows 10 version relies on horizontal scrolling and a side menu bar.

Along with your current conditions, additional features for The Weather Channel include: 6th grade science textbook pdf.

  • Extended forecasts (48 hours and Seven Days)
  • Weather Maps (weather radar, temperature, clouds and dew points)
  • Weather Videos
  • The latest weather news

Settings for The Weather Channel include options to choose your units of measurements, rainfall alerts and severe weather alerts. The Weather Channel also has Live Tile support for your Windows 10 menus.

MyRadar Weather Radar

Along with being able to keep up with your local forecasts, a solid weather radar app can keep you informed of the potential for severe weather or how much more time you have for those outdoor activities. The first Windows 10 weather radar app that shows up on our radar is MyRadar Weather Radar.

The app centers around the U.S. map with key features that include:

  • Three radar styles (Classic, Hi-Def and Temperature Map)
  • Ability to toggle on/off cloud coverage
  • Layer to view Severe Weather Watches and Warnings (optional)
  • Layer to track current or historical hurricanes (optional)
  • Live Tile support with updates every 15 minutes
  • Aviation layers
  • Three map styles (Roads, Aerial and Greyscale)

While MyRadar Weather Radar's map can be scrolled to view other countries, the app currently only shows weather imagery for the United States. While the coverage is not global, MyRadar Weather Radar comes across as a solid Windows 10 weather app.

Weather Now 8.1

Free Desktop Weather Radar Software

Weather Now 8.1 is a simple and easy solution to view current conditions and extended forecasts for global locations. The Windows 10 weather app does not have many bells and whistles but does a nice job of delivering the basic weather information to your laptop, tablet or desktop. Tna impact video game roster.

The interface isn't very complicated. Enter the location you want to view the weather information for and the app will deliver the current conditions and a seven-day forecast. The weather information includes the high/low/current temperatures, expected conditions (rain, sun, snow, storms, etc.) wind speeds and humidity.

The current day's forecast is broken down periodically throughout the date and you can tap on an extended forecast date to view that information full screen.

Again, there is not much to Weather Now 8.1. The app does pull in a 4 Star rating in the Windows Store and while I like a little more meat on the bone with my weather apps, I can see the appeal.

AccuWeather

Free Desktop Weather Radar Download

AccuWeather is another leader in providing weather news, information and forecasts. While many will be familiar with AccuWeather's Windows Phone app, there is also an app available for Windows 10.

Along with support for twenty-seven languages, a quick look at current conditions and a five-day extended forecast some of the key features for AccuWeather include:

  • A twenty-five day extended forecast to help you plan well in advance
  • Animated weather radar with a satellite, road, aerial and bird's eye overlay options
  • A MinuteCast feature that provides a minute by minute forecast that is localized to your street address
  • Severe weather notifications
  • Live Tile Support
  • Access to current weather news videos

While I do like the AccuWeather Windows Phone app, the Windows version needs a little renovation. Where MSN Weather and The Weather Channel have their menu options laid out nicely along the side of the screen, AccuWeather relies on the hidden hamburger menu. It's not a critical issue but moving around the weather app felt a little cumbersome.

Nonetheless, AccuWeather is a popular app to consider. It is a free, ad-supported offering.

NOAA Hi-Def Radar - Weather Forecast and Maps

While MyRadar is a solid option to consider, if you want a little more zip in your weather radar app consider NOAA Hi-Def Radar - Weather Forecast and Maps. It's one of our favorite Windows Phone apps and does a great job of things from a Windows 10 device as well.

The weather app is the only app that automatically augments land-based radar images with the latest images from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) satellites that cover the Atlantic/Pacific oceans into a single screen. The result is a weather map that not only shows what is going on over dry land but also what is drifting around just of the coast.

Some of NOAA Hi-Def Radar's key features include:

  • Road or Satellite map styles
  • An overlay showing any active weather watches or warnings
  • Saved locations for forecast information
  • Live Tile Support

In addition to the weather radar imagery, NOAA Hi-Def Radar also has the ability to pull up local forecast data. The information is somewhat brief but includes your current conditions, sunrise/sunset times and a five-day forecast.

I don't know if I would recommend NOAA Hi-Def Radar - Weather Forecast and Maps as your main Windows 10 weather app but it does make for a solid supplemental when you need a better picture of the weather radar picture. NOAA Hi-Def Radar may not be a freebie in the Windows Store but keep in mind it is a universal app and once you buy the Windows version, you own the Windows Phone version as well.

Please note that NOAA Hi-Def Radar currently only provides coverage for the United States and the territories of Puerto Rico and Guam. Coverage only includes the southern coastal areas of Alaska. Additionally, the developer notes that very high altitude locations may have issues due to the terrain interfering with the radar beams.
